Dry Ginger Coffee

The winter is moving over and making for the summery hot days pretty soon. And we had some unprecedented rains which took us by surprise and gave us all some really sore throats. This tea is to soothe those horrid throats. This chukku (dry ginger) kaapi(coffee)- an easy and effective home remedy for cold, is made out of palm jaggery which is also an excellent source of calcium and lots of other stuff.

To make enough for 2 people
You need

Palm jaggery 3 tablespoon
Peppercorns 2 tsp
Coriander seeds 2 tsp
Water 200 ml
Fresh/dry ginger 1 inch piece
  • Crush all the above in a blender and add it to the water and let it boil down to half the original quantity.
  • Sieve and drink hot to soothe that hurting throat.
You can increase or decrease the ingredients to suit your taste. But its more effective if you drink it regularly for a few days and make it more strong. You can add tulsi leaves to this too.

Sending this to BWW #75 of Black and White Wednesday - A Culinary Photography Event created by Susan of The Well-Seasoned Cook, now organized by Cinzia of Cindystar, and hosted this week byLynne of Cafe Lynnylu
